Group Coaching
Frequently Asked Questions
What's different about group coaching?
Well, for one thing – obviously – coaching is done with several women in a small group. The coaching benefits are equal to private coaching, but progress may be a bit slower simply because there is less one-on-one attention. Or not!
How many women are in the group?
I never invite more than 5 or 6 women in an online coaching group. We all have too much to say and everyone needs a chance to share! For on-site groups I sometimes will offer spaces to 8 women but only with two-hour sessions.
What do you talk about?
That depends entirely on the group. If we have a slow start, I will bring some issues to the group that are universally applicable to ADD women, like organization, time management, relationships. Usually, by the time women are ready for a coach, they know exactly what issues they want to work on.
Is there a special format for group coaching?
The sessions are longer – 90 minutes – and we start with a connection and check-in at every session. We'll do follow-up on requests made at the previous session and then move into discussion of topics that are urgent or important for this week.
Request? That sounds like homework or requirements!
Not really. You get to make the decision about whether to commit to a request or not. And usually the requests come from YOU rather than me or the group. It's a way of moving forward and provides accountability.
What happens if someone uses all the time to talk about her problems and I don't get heard?
Ah, the zinger question! At the beginning of our coaching, I require that all participants agree to a set of Standards (the Standards of Presence) that pretty much eliminate the possibility of one person dominating the conversation. If it does happen, I will handle it gently and firmly. If someone cannot or will not adhere to the Standards, they may be asked to leave the group.
How much does group coaching cost?
Far less than private coaching – about $200 a month vs $375 a month. If you pre-pay for all three months, you receive a discount of 10% ($540 vs $600) . If you choose not to pre-pay, your credit card will be charged at the beginning of each monthly cycle.
What happens if I miss a session? Do I still have to pay?
All our coaching sessions are recorded, so if you miss a session, you can listen in later to catch up with the group. The recordings are available ONLY to the group, not to outsiders, so your confidentiality is protected. Yes, you are still responsible for payment.
What if I don't like coaching and want to drop out? Will I get a refund?
If after the first session, you find that group coaching isn't for you, you may leave the group. There is a $50 service charge for leaving the group, so you would pay $50 plus the cost of that coaching session. The rest of your money is refunded. After the second session, there are no refunds.
A final note: I love coaching groups of ADDiva women – it's an extension of my original dream, women's retreat facilitation. The support and coaching you receive are with me, personally – no assistants or surrogates. It's Pure ADDiva Linda.
Remember: group coaching has some distinct advantages over private coaching:
1. Communication and connection with other ADDivas helps "normalize" your experiences. You aren't alone!
2. Costs are far lower than for private coaching.
3. Sessions are longer than for private coaching.
4. Most groups are coached via a secure bridge line, so you don't have to travel to Linda's office.
5. On-site groups meet only three weeks each month to save precious fossil fuel.
6. The camaraderie and friendship developed during the group provides support outside the coaching sessions.
